From chaos to calm - a dance parent’s journey
We’re Renee and Tom—entrepreneurs and dance parents for 15+ years who’ve spent more weekends than we can count hauling gear, steaming costumes in cramped hotel rooms, and hustling from parking lot to dressing room to backstage for our three kids (with more to go!).
Rosemary is now 19, a sophomore at UTK and a member of the Boss dance team (Go Vols!). Our younger daughter, Amelia (16), and son, Larry (9), both dance on the DC Dance Factory team in Franklin, TN. We love this world, but let’s be real—traveling with dance kids can be stressful.
Like most families, we’ve invested in countless dance duffle bags with pop-up racks…only to hit the same wall every competition weekend. The wheels are on the short end—not the side you lay down to prep. So the moment you extend the rack to hang costumes and organize accessories, you’re stuck. That means repacking, juggling armfuls of costumes, or wrestling bulky wardrobe racks and extra bags that are hard to assemble and even harder to steer. It’s a logistical nightmare at the exact moment when dancers—and parents—need calm.
After one especially chaotic weekend in February 2024, Renee looked at Tom and said, “There has to be a better way. Help me solve this.” That night in our kitchen, The Dance Dolly was born. After nearly two years of dreaming, concepting, 3D designs, and countless prototypes, it’s here—designed by dance parents for dance parents. The Dance Dolly transports any size dance bag with the rack up, converts to a rolling costume rack in seconds, and keeps all your essentials organized. Telescoping handles, a quick-fit costume rod, and an optional insulated costume box work together to cut trips and calm the chaos.
